Introduction
Technology is one of mankind's achievements that has remarkably contributed to the growth and development of culture and civilization. One can hardly conceive an aspect of man's life which has not somehow been changed by technology. These changes are so significant that it is not realistic to expect stability of the mankind life conditions ([21] Webster, 2001). Furthermore, technology has changed "the entire concept of libraries from 'holding' to 'access' ([10] Khalid, 2000, p. 179)". Within the last years of the advent of IT, the internet and especially the vast worldwide web has created a great revolution in the field of publication and the data storage and retrieval as a new medium. The developments in the modern technologies and the information delivery industry have resulted in utilization of modern means and methods during the last decade and many people need to have access to the electronic resources as their research tools.
Digital libraries, as one of the significant scientific information resources, have provided the accessibility to the qualitative and quantitative information more precisely and more quickly. The scientific databases are also deemed as one of the significant means of flourishing industry and technology, because on the one hand they are the media which connect the academic communities and the scholars and on the other hand they transfer awareness from the academic and research sections to the industry and production fields ([17] Salmani Nadooshan et al. , 2008). In this respect, university libraries endeavor to offer better and more useful services to the referrers using the modern technologies and equipment ([12] Kaur and Verma, 2009). The fast and continuous development of information technologies has caused the accumulation of electronic resources in the libraries and issues which has demanded training about how to use this technological equipment ([3] Asemi and Riyahinia, 2007). In order to plan any programs in the library in respect of these information resources to which a major part of the library fund is dedicated, the first step is definitely to be aware about the current status and efficiency of the existing databases for the users ([9] Hewitson, 2002).
