Abstract

The cartoons have played an important role in presenting and crystallization of new social behaviors and standards expected by the citizens are appropriate. Betty Boop did the same between 1932 and 1939, featuring an independent woman, hardworking and responsible citizens with high values. This work is based on analysis of 9 of the 89 chapters that, between 1932 and 1939, make up the production of the animated series, and is designed to identify the elements that may be called crystallization transformation of female representation in the social world. As a cultural product helped Betty Boop socialization in new models of social behavior in which women played an important role for the autonomy achieved in the modern world. [PUBLICATION ABSTRACT]
