Abstract

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) has been discussed in both the academic and business circles, having been portrayed as a strategy that may contribute to the financial performance of companies, a strategic response to institutional pressures incurred by the companies, a mere speech marketing, or even a post-profit activity. The purpose of this study is to shift the center of discussion on CSR, the company for civil society. This paper seeks to analyze the speech Petrobras on CSR and confront with the look of residents of the community. The authors found that the image that communicates externally Petrobras is the great virtue of having an agenda and ensures that its activities for ecological practices and politically correct, but it was found that the surrounding community does not share the view that Petrobras announces externally in their Security Policies, Health and Environment, which is to have a great civic virtue.
