When reading Charles R. Hoffer's credentials, one realizes his far-reaching effects on music education.
His career includes a term as MENC president, state and division offices, service on MENC projects, fourteen years teaching music in the schools, and thirty-four years of college teaching preparing future music teachers, as well as frequent appearances as clinician or speaker at music education conferences throughout the United States and in other countries.
But perhaps most impressive is his long list of publications, which include Teaching Music in the secondary Schools, Foundations of Music Education, Music for Elementary Classroom Teachers, Introduction to Music Education, and several music appreciation books with supplementary materials that use the latest technology. He has also written numerous articles on music education and worked on the National Standards and the standards for the state of Florida.
