Abstract

At a first glance, nationalism and communism seem to be two radically incompatible political ideologies. But the idea of empowering the state ties them together in an unique manner. Nicolae Ceausescu's regime is one of the best proofs in this regard. Through the concept of pseudo-hegemonic nationalism, this essay tries to prospect a possible research of national-communism in Romania during 1965 and 1989, emphasizing the composite ideological dimension of the concept and its separation between an internal, domestic component, respectively an external, international one.
