Caring for health in occupied Palestinian territory

Abstract

The administration of Palestinian health care is fragmented. In the West Bank, it falls under the Palestinian Authority (PA) run by President Mahmoud Abbas of the Fatah party. Gaza is under the Islamist movement Hamas. Israel withdrew its settlers and forces from Gaza in 2005 but maintains tight control over its borders, effectively controlling the movement of people and goods.
