Forsooth!
C'mon guys. Enough is enough with the "shaky camera technique!"
How many times must this gimmick be copy-catted before we see the last of it? One of the first things I learned about cinematography was that you tried to present a nice, steady image foryour audience so that you didn't make them nauseous.
The first commercial using the shaky technique was fine, but it should have been the last. Tell your client or director, "no!"

Bob Fisher's article on Woody Omens and Harlem Nights (November 1989) was outstanding and representative of the kind of articles which should appear more often in American Cinematographer. I am often frustrated by the layman approach to the articles which seem to only discuss whatfilm stock was used...
