Abstract

This article explores the relationship links between biography and essay based on the reading of La operación Masotta, by Carlos Correas. There is recurring The discussion about the book's genre affiliation of the book is recurring among specialized readers. “Impossible biography”, “essay-like biography”, “biographical essay” are some of the preferred clauses terms to describe it. The form that the bond between biographer and biographee assumes in La operación Masotta is the opportunity to examine and argue the kinship which —by the ways and resources of the mundane conversation— biography and essay hold since at least the Eeighteenth Ccentury. The importance Correas attributes to the anecdote in biographical writing participates of the tradition that approaches connects both genres.
