Berks County's Frog Holler celebrates new release with shows
Darren Schlappich was sort of a lost soul when he launched the first version of his band, Frog Holler, back in 1996.
Schlappich was a left-leaning, free-spirited musician living in old-timey, rural, conservative Berks County. He didn't think there was anyone else living around him who thought the way he did, so he felt stuck in the wilds to the north of Reading.
As such, Frog Holler's early tunes reflected that isolation and a general dissatisfaction with Berks.
But then Schlappich met some people from nearby Kutztown University who were just like him. Writers, artists, musicians.
