I call it postmodern, or new age romanticism," says Marjan Mozetich of his lush, warm and strongly appealing music. It's highly connected with pop music: I only use three or four chords and many times I use them in a kind of progression in a cycle, the same way pop music does--but a little more warped or extended. I think that's why the public in general seems to like this music, because somehow it connects."
Mozetich's most recent creation, L'Esprit chantant for violin and piano, was written for the 1995 Montreal International Music Competition as the specially commissioned test piece, performed May 31-June 2 by the competition's 15 semi-finalists....
