Jazz in review: The return of a native legend.

Cleveland has a rich and fertile jazz history that goes back many years. Cleveland has nourished numerous jazz legends who went on to national and international acclaim. Among these were giants like the incredible pianist Art Tatum and the startling multireedman Roland "RaShan" Kirk. The marvelous saxophonists Joe Alexander and Joe Lovano along with trumpeters Freddie Webster and the brilliant Benny Bailey and you can't leave out the vocal magic of Vanessa Rubin or the dynamic arrangements of Willie Smith and one of the gurus of Bop, Mr. Tad Dameron. The list can go on and on, but space does not permit.
