Abstract (summary)

This Thesis is an account of my journey through the Theatre Arts Graduate Program at the University of Louisville. I am submitting this thesis, My School Play by Dr. Russell Vandenbroucke, as the role of Jenna. The Introduction, Drama Without Theatre, gives an account of all the roles, classes and particular events of my time in the program Chapter 1, Jenna's Journey, shows how I chose my Thesis and includes a Character Analysis. Chapter 2, Behind the Scenes, shows my writing research and the obstacles I faced in that workshop, as well as overcoming them by the time I was in rehearsals. Chapter 3, No Time For Rewrites, shows how I faced some of my weaknesses and persevered. It also shows some new techniques I need to work on. The Conclusion, That Which Does Not Kill Me, Makes Me Stronger, describes the tools I am leaving the program with as well as some recommendations for the graduate program. It also tells of the journey I will continue to make in the theatre.
