The City Council changes as some depart, some arrive.
With the swearing in on Thursday of Lawrence Bell as President of the Baltimore City Council, and seven council members who are serving their first term, a new era of political leadership begins that is brimming with youthfulness and vigor.
Armed with their determination to help build a better Baltimore, and a burning desire to begin delivering on campaign promises, the city's newest council members are looking forward to serving the citizens of Baltimore.
Stephanie Rawlings, 25, who will be representing Baltimore's 5th District, is the youngest new council member.
Ms. Rawlings is the daughter of Delegate Howard P. Rawlings.
"I want to continue the excellent level of constituent service that this district has had in the past," said Ms. Rawlings. "I plan to work as hard as I can to serve the needs of my district."
The Baltimore native graduated from the University of Maryland law School earlier this year, and currently serves on the Democratic State Central Committee.
Keiffer Jackson Mitchell, who will be representing the Fourth District, is also among the "twenty-somethings."
