"I received a letter from the State Court of Appeals, telling me to proceed 'pro-se' in filling my brief," stated John Leftridge #41632, a Black prisoner incarcerated for robbery with a sentence of 10 years. "But being denied the time in the library by the present Oregon State Penitentiary librarian is just the same as being denied due process of law."
Robert Thompson, OSP prison librarian has been hit with a rash of alleged accusations by a group of Black inmates for showing favoritism towards whites and discrimination against Black prisoners in use of the prison library.
The action in doing such has brought forth alarming concern to Blacks in general that his name has been added to a federal law suit once placed into the courts on a former librarian named John Ritter.
"Mr. Robert Thompson is prejudiced and incompetent," says Dennis Elliott, #40891. "He told me there wasn't any openings when I asked for a job in the library," accused Danny Boyd, #44691, "and the next day he hired a white boy."
There are no Black inmates working within the library compound or under Thompson's supervision.
