The Club Wholesale store in Billings and three sister stores will close in early September as the Idaho-based company redirects its retail efforts from general merchandise to office supplies.
Club Wholesale's general merchandise stores in Billings; Boise, Idaho; Eugene, Ore.; and Salem, Ore., will be closed as part of the restructuring aimed at recapitalizing the company, Club Wholesale President Phil Roark announced Tuesday in Boise.
Meanwhile, Club Wholesale has launched an expansion in office supply business, with 12 to 16 office-supply big stores scheduled to open throughout the Northwest by the end of 1991. Club Wholesale's board of directors announced the company's new direction Tuesday, but rumors that the Billings store was scheduled to close had been circulating here for more than a week.
