The village of Brooklyn has filed for bankruptcy, an inevitable conclusion to years of corruption, plummeting population and the closing of several adult businesses, its mayor said Tuesday.
"We've been thinking about it for a couple of years," said Dennis Miller, mayor since 2001. "We have too many creditors. We've taken a significant hit, a drop in income."
The village sought the protection Monday in federal court.
Miller said there are immediate cures to correct Brooklyn's ills.
