Abstract (summary)

This project seeks to examine the impact that membership and membership changes have played in the case history of the League of United Latin American Citizens within the 20th and 21st centuries in the setting of San Antonio, Texas. Through the utilization of the Political Process Model, this project aims to demonstrate that membership changes did affect policy change in the organization. This change in the organization will be seen in the examination of outcomes of LULAC via organizational agenda and objective, through the study of four variables: gender, language, profession and citizenship status. To do so this project will utilize archival data from the Nettie Lee Benson Latin American Collection Archives.
