YEAST INFECIION

Yeast lives in the vagina all the time in small, harmless quantities. A yeast infection ' is a very common infection caused by a fungus called C.andida albicans. Yeast infection or candidiasis is a common problem faced by people who live in hot and humid conditions. It affects agreat percentage of women at some point during their lifetime. When this fungi grows out of corjtrol it results in itchin6ss, a rash, burning and redness, which can be extremely uncomfortable. In some cases a thick, whitd, odourless discharge, resembling cottage cheese, appears. Lactobacillus bacteria (a healthy type) normally keep the vagina's pH and yeast levels in check. But the balance can be tipped by antibiotics, corticosteroids, uncontrolled diabetes, or raised estrogen Ievels from birth control or pregnancy. Yet, in many cases, there's no easily identified cause.
