Bovine spongiform encephalopathy and variant Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease

Abstract (summary)

Other theories about the origins of bovine spongiform encephalopathy are rather too fanciful to credit seriously For example, the idea that bovine spongiform encephalopathy results from exposure to organophosphates11 fails to account for experimental transmissibility of the disease and for the absence of bovine spongiform encephalopathy in countries that use organophosphates extensively, such as Japan.
