Each year IAJE Leadership selects recipients for the Jazz Education Hall of Fame from nominations received from IAJE membership. The purpose of the Hall of Fame is to honor those individuals whose musical contributions and dedication to jazz education over the past 25 years have created new directions and curricular innovations for jazz education worldwide. The 2001 Hall of Fame recipients are Justin DiCioccio and Phil Nimmons. The induction ceremony will take place during the Thursday evening concert on January 11, 2001, at the Beacon Theatre.
IAJE is proud to join with past and present students and colleagues of Justin and Phil in recognition of their accomplishments in jazz education with induction into the IAJE Jazz Education Hall of Fame.
JUSTIN DICIOCCIOJustin's career in music education began in the early 1970's when he developed the jazz education program at New York City's High School for Music and Art, influencing a number of students who have gone on to very successful careers including Kenny Washington, Marcus Miller, and Dave Valentin.
