DEVELOPMENT of a coalmine at the centre of a donations scandal that engulfed the Newman government during the Queensland election campaign has been put on hold by federal Environment Minister Greg Hunt.
As Mr Hunt extended the deadline to decide on the Acland Stage Three mine under the Environmental Protection and Biodiversity Act, fresh questions were raised about whether the federal Liberal Party was used to conceal donations to the state's Liberal National Party. Electoral commission records show $3.38 million was sent from the federal party to the state LNP in 2013-14.
