I came to this project with great interest because I am a fan of Stephen Sondheim's work-indeed, I have written about it several times in Fanfare-as well as someone who is interested in contemporary "serious" music for the piano. Pianist Anthony de Mare and I have at least that much in common, I suppose. He approached 36 composers, most of them more or less from the world of classical music (whatever that means) and...
