While many 62-year-olds are winding down and planning their retirement, Great British Bake Off finalist and garden designer Jane Beedle is still intent on renovating houses as well as pursuing her career as a television cookery expert. “I’ve never been busier,” says Beedle, whose regular cookery slot on ITV’s breakfast show, hosted by Lorraine Kelly, is filmed in her spacious home.
Now Beedle’s six-bedroom, double-fronted Victorian semi-detached home in Beckenham, Kent, is on the market with Proctors for £1.295 million as she hunts for another home in need of TLC.
The property had been used as offices for over 60 years when Beedle and husband Ray, 70, took on the project six years ago, with two previous family home renovations under their belt.
“The house was the local Conservative Association constituency headquarters and was split into offices with ladies and gents loos, no kitchen and an overgrown garden,” she says. “Nobody wanted to buy it but we saw its potential.”

The price was a snip at just under £500,000, but they had to apply for change of use to residential and the renovations took over three years. “I could cook in the kitchen for our first Christmas but I had to wash up in a bucket,”...
