LAVENDER GODZILLA.
For those gay, lesbian and bisexual Americans who are proud of their various cultural backgrounds, 1994 has proven to be a year of surprises - some pleasant and others not so pleasant.
In February, San Francisco's Chinatown recognized gay, lesbian and bisexual Asian Pacific Islanders by including them in the annual Chinese New Year Parade for the first time since the parade began in 1958. About 120 Asian Pacific Islanders marched in the contingent, made up mostly of members from the Gay Asian Pacific Alliance (GAPA) and the lesbian group Asian Pacifica Sisters.
Things were a little rockier for Irish Americans in Boston, who found that St. Patrick's Day in Boston was not the same this year.
