The Minnesota State Fair plans to have a new employment office up and running in time to staff this summers event and help find workers for its vendors.
The Minnesota State Agricultural Society closed Jan. 31 on the $2.2 million purchase of a 29,634-square-foot Class C office-warehouse on 1.67 acres at 1640 Como Ave. in St. Paul. The price works out to $74.24 per square foot.
The seller was R, P & G Enterprises, an entity related to St. Paul attorney George LeTendre, according to a Minnesota Secretary of State filing.
The building was new in 1960 when it became the studios for Twin Cities Public Television, now based in downtown St. Paul. For more than 2 years, the property has been home to The CW Twin Cities studios, which moved to 00 Hennepin Ave. in downtown Minneapolis at the end of 2017.
A lot of our discussions after the Fair wrapped up revolved around the need for more space, said Jerry Hammer, general manager for The Great Minnesota Get Together.
When LeTendre was thinking about selling, it was common sense that hed approach the State Fair, Hammer said.
The timing couldnt have been better, Hammer said.
