One championship, two division titles, 29 former players in the major leagues and over one million fans are some of the numbers that the Vermont Expos have accumulated over nine years as the team gets ready in 2003 to celebrate their 10th year in the New York-Penn League.
The Vermont Expos were born on June 16, 1994 when owner Ray Pecor's franchise made their debut at the University of Vermont's Historic Centennial Field against the Pittsfield Mets in front of over 5,000 fans. The Expos would lose 6-5 before picking up the team's first win at Hudson Valley on June 19th.
That 1994 team would go on to finish 42-33 and miss out on the New York-Penn League playoffs by just one game. Things would be different in 1995 when the Expos would win the McNamara Division title with a 49-27 record.
