Spin-offs from last week's launch of 'Internet telephone' will be plenty, say industry leaders, but IT companies should not expect an immediate boom in their business.
The Ministry of Post and Telematics (MPT) last week said all local Open Settlements Protocols (OSP) could provide the new service of making telephone calls via the Internet.
The ministry has allowed two kinds of Internet telephone; local and international PC-to-PC calls, and PC-to-phone from Vietnam to abroad, but has excluded phone-to-PC and phone-to-phone.
Vietnam Datacommunication Company (VDC) director Vu Hoang Lien said the new service would encourage local people to access to many other applications via Internet.
