Newton Reconstructionist temple to install new rabbi as ...

NEWTON -- It will be in an alley that Rabbi Toba Spitzer will celebrate her installation as the part-time spiritual leader of Congregation Dorshei Tzedek in Newton -- a bowling alley.
The celebration, scheduled for the night of Jan. 31, should be so noisy that one could hear a pin drop -- 10 pins if Spitzer and her new congregants are fortunate.
The havdalah and bowling party, which will be held at Lanes & Games in Cambridge, was Spitzer's idea, the rabbi acknowledged in a recent interview. Bowling in all 50 states is a lifetime goal of the 35-year-old Chevy Chase, Md., native. She has bowled in 25 so far, she said, and her pursuit of her dream was featured in the February 1997 issue of Bowlers...
