Young Israel of Sharon Goes Home
SHARON -- Hundreds of people sang and danced their way through Sharon last Sunday as Young Israel of Sharon moved to its new home.
The growing synagogue, now 175 families strong, has partnered with the local religious day school, Striar Hebrew Academy of Sharon, and bought the building that formerly housed Temple Sinai (Advocate, August 18-24, 2000). The dedication marked the end of a year-long search for a facility.
In 1972, a group of families created the Sharon Orthodox Minyan. The local conservative synagogue, Temple Israel, provided the congregation space until they bought a two-family house on Oakland Road. They officially became known...
