ORLANDO - The International Assn. of Amusement Parks and Attractions bestowed awards on exhibitors, facilities and individuals for a wide range of exceptional accomplishments throughout the convention week in Orlando. The following is a roundup of some of the awards and winners.
EXHIBITOR AWARDS
Winners of the IAAPA Orlando 2002 Exhibitor Awards were named Nov. 20. Jeff Taggart, of Nanco, which won first place in the merchandise category for the SpongeBob SquarePants line, said the award is just another sign that a good season is coming.
Best Exhibit Awards are not for the products themselves, but for the best booth presentation. Judging is based on originality uniqueness, promotion of product/service, quality of design, and professional appearance of staff.
Winners were:
* Booths 100-200 square feet: Daddona Studios
* 300-500 square feet: Be Media
* 600-1,000 square feet: HEIMO Animated Attractions
* 1,100+ square feet: Bob's Space Racers
* Major Theme or Amusement Park Ride/Attraction: Arrow Dynamics for "Fourth Dimension Roller Coaster"
* Kiddie Ride/Attraction: Zamperla for "Rockin' Tug"
* Waterpark Ride/Attraction: ProSlide Technology for "Cloverleaf Tubing"
* Family Entertainment Center Ride/Attraction: Simuline Inc. for "VR - Racer"
* Coin-Operated Kiddie Ride: Fun2Learn Children's Rides for "Bear Riverboat Ride"
* Technology Applied to Amusements: Intamin Ltd. for "Rocket Coaster"
* Food Services: Gourmet Italian Ices for "Gourmet Italian Ices"
* Games: Coastal Amusements for "Hi-Striker X-Treme"
* Coin-Operated Arcade & Redemption Equipment: Bob's Space Racers for "The Wave Game" (now known as "Fireball")
* Merchandise: Nancy Sales Co./Nanco for "SpongeBob Square Pants"
