Fox Studios, Australia's $261 million (U.S.) Backlot in Sydney, may have gone under, with parts of the five attractions, including the showcase "James Cameron's Titanic - The Experience," set to be auctioned soon, but Warner Village Theme Parks on the Gold Coast are holding strong as the Australian summer comes toward a close.
Part of the 11-acre Backlot is being taken over by the working studio portion of the complex and the rest is being saved for "future development opportunities," said Michael Harvey, chief executive of Fox Studios.
"The attraction, while it appealed to some, didn't appeal to the masses," Harvey said. "There was not enough in it for children. It sat somewhere between theme park and museum and didn't really have a home. Some of the attractions were a little bit static and could have been more interactive."
