Road funding announced
The province is providing $41.3 million for several Thunder Bay highway improvement projects.
Highway improvement includes the Shabaqua extension, a two-lane road stretching 13 kilometres from the Harbour Expressway-Thunder Bay Expressway intersection west to Twin City Crossroads. This project is expected to cost $20 million and is expected to take pressure off the city's Arthur Street by giving traffic another route into Thunder Bay. Funding is also provided for improvement to the Highway 11 bridges over the Neebing and Oskondaga rivers and upgrades to the Thunder Bay Expressway. City officials are planning to lobby for other projects that need to be done.
