The Wayside Foundation for the Arts, Inc. is a foundation without an endowment. But before the non-profit organization addresses that need, it must raise one-half million dollars more for a renovation and expansion of its theater in Middletown, Frederick County, Va.
Celebrating its 45th anniversary this year, on November 26, Wayside expects to break ground on a 90-seat second theater.
"We are thrilled to have surpassed our first goals by receiving commitments for just under $600,000 towards this effort," said Dr. Byron Brill, a Stephens City periodontist who is Wayside's comprehensive campaign chairman. "We anticipate costs to be between $1.2 and $1.5 million, when all is said and done, and now look to expand our efforts as we seek to garner more widespread support from the community.
"Breaking ground will demonstrate to the community that we're very serious and very dedicated to preserving this wonderful Shenandoah Valley cultural treasure for future generations."
