On the day the new May Gibbs garden was recently opened at Adelaide's Carrick Hill heritage house museum, the heavens opened. During a brief reprieve from the rain, everyone dashed out of the building to see the new landscaping and, on cue, a koala in situ started grunting as if performing for the crowd. 'Did you arrange that?' someone asked Director Christine Schloithe. Of course she hadn't: it must have been the Gibbs garden magic at work.
