CHAMBER MUSIC
AMICI. Heidi Krutzen, who serves as principal harp of the Vancouver Opera Orchestra, pays a visit for a program that includes Camille SaintSaëns' Fantasie, op. 124, for violin and harp; and R. Murray Schafer's Theseus for harp and string quartet. Rounding out the evening are two pieces by Brazilian composer Heitor Villa-Lobos: Assobio a Jato for flute and cello, and Chôros no. 2 for flute and clarinet. Feb. 10. $45. NEW MUSIC CONCERTS. Robert Aitken and his ensemble welcome two major Finnish musicians-guitarist Timo Korhonen as well as pianist-composer Magnus Lindberg-for a concert of works by the latter and his compatriot Kimmo Hakola. On the bill are Hakola's 12 Etudes for Guitar; and Lindberg's Mono a Mano (for solo guitar), Linea d'ombre (for flute, alto saxophone, guitar and percussion), Konzertstück (for cello and piano) and Kiri (for clarinet, cello, percussion, guitar and electronics). VIA SALZBURG. Mime Giuseppe Condello interprets Igor Stravinsky's ballet score Apollon Musagète, in a collaborative performance with the Via Salzburg Chamber Orchestra. JON KIMURA PARKER. The Vancouver-born pianist, who won the Leeds International Pianoforte Competition in 1984 and has since built himself quite an international career, returns for his first MTO recital in more than 15 years, although he is regularly heard in concerto repertoire with the TSO. He performs his own arrangement of Stravinsky's groundbreaking ballet score The Rite of Spring, Robert Schumann's Carnaval, and celebrated Torontonian Alexina Louie's Scenes From a Jade Terrace. TOKYO STRING QUARTET.
