Financial services powerhouse Goldman Sachs has officially announced that it will remain in Downtown Manhattan. The firm plans to build a two-million-sf headquarters in Battery Park City, near its current headquarters at One New York Place. The company has set its sights on Site 26-the last commercial parcel available for development in this area of Lower Manhattan located on West Street between Vesey and Murray streets.
The Hugh L. Carey Battery Park City Authority designated the financial services firm as the developer of the site in August. The project is the first new corporate headquarters to rise in the submarket in 16 years.
