Professor Heinrich von Stietencron of the Seminar fuer Indologie und Vergleichende Religionswissenschaft at the University of Tuebingen, his collaborators P. Flamm, J. L. Brockington, A. Malinar, P. Schreiner, K.-P. Gietz, A. Kollmann, S. Dietrich, R. Soehnen-Thieme, A. S. Pfeiffer, et al., and the proprietors of Otto Harrassowitz should all be roundly congratulated on their production of this much needed, meticulously researched, handsomely produced, and enormously useful work.
Under von Stietencron's chairmanship the collaborators have, by dint of what must have been enormous effort, produced an immensely important reference tool for Indological scholars working in the field of epic and puranic studies, as well as for scholars interested in related areas such as Indian philosophy, history, art history, and folklore studies.
