Not since Lee Aaron strutted her leather-clad self across stages in the 1980s has Canada been home to a heavy-metal queen. Now, with Kittie, the country suddenly has three challengers to the throne, all in one band. The teenage sensations from London, Ont. -- singer-guitarist Morgan Lander, her drummer sister, Mercedes Lander, and bassist Talena Atfield -- have already earned kudos in the right circles, including rave reviews in Spin and Rolling Stone and a spot on last year's Ozzfest, featuring headliner Ozzy Osbourne and bands such as Pantera and Incubus. Meanwhile, Kittie's debut album, Spit, has obviously struck a chord with head-bangers south of the border, selling in excess of 500,000 copies.
Now the group is hoping to avoid the sophomore jinx with its follow-up release, Oracle. A press release, in typical hardcore hyperbole, claims Oracle "manifests...
