Art Now: Ann Phong, THE FEMININE STROKE.
Ann Phong's development as an artist first began when she lived in Viet Nam. In 1981, she fled from the communist regime by boat. Phong continued her education here in the United States and received her bachelor's degree in the fine arts from California Polytechnic Pomona and her master's degree from California State Fullerton. Phong expresses strong and passionate stories about her voyage to the United States throughout much of her work. Through her paintings Phong conveys the experiences, the losses and the gains of a Vietnamese-American woman.
Phong escaped from Viet Nam, hoping like many others, for a brighter future. Her strength and determination brought her here. Phong's paintings depict her courage as well as her fears about this life. Her style...
