McDonald's Corp., once shy about entering New York City, has picked Times Square for its biggest U.S. restaurant yet.
"This will be a flagship store with high visibility at the crossroads of the world," says Manhattan franchisee Irwin Kruger, who is building the whopping 17,000-square-foot restaurant.
The new eatery is in the Candler building at 220 West 42nd St., one of the last properties to be redeveloped in the now familyfriendly tourist mecca.
McDonald's win be the sole retail tenant in the 1913 building, built by one of the founders of Coca-Cola Co. and now owned by a division of Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Co.
