IT'S BEEN ALMOST A DECADE since the Council of Teaching Hospitals held a meeting in New York, but the trade group has found a reason to come back: Times Square.
"Times Square is fun, funky, full of activity," says Kirsten Olean, director of professional education programs for the Association of American Medical Colleges, the council's parent organization.
The Roosevelt Hotel and the Waldorf-Astoria, which she also considered, were no match for the Westin Times Square, where a group of 125 hospital chief executives will convene in March 2004. "I was so pleased with the setup and the location that I've already booked another AAMC meeting there" for the coming year, she says.
Times Square is turning into one of the city's premier meetings locations. The explosion of restaurants, clubs and familyentertainment venues has renewed and updated Times Square's luster.
