THE BROOKLYN BOTANIC Garden is quietly readying a multimillion-dollar capital campaign in an effort to turn the 95-yearold institution into a mustsee New York attraction.
As part of its sweeping plans, the garden will build a visitors center, another party room and a glitzy restaurant. At the same time, it is working on new exhibitions and interactive signage in a bid to make sleepy subjects like horticulture trendy.
The board is counting on Scot Medbury, the garden's new president and chief executive, to make such goals a reality.
"We needed someone who could help us launch this campaign," says Earl Weiner, Brooklyn Botanic Garden chairman. "Scot has the kind of personality that works well with a very complex political base, as we have in New York."
