NBC HAS SUBLEASED SOME 100,000 square feet of the space at 30 Rockefeller Plaza that it is in the process of acquiring. Investment bank Lazard Freres & Co., which already has its offices at Rockefeller Center, is taking 33,000 square feet on the 49th floor at a rent in the mid-$40s per square foot.
Law firm Dechert Price & Rhoads is moving its office to 65,000 square feet on the 22nd and 23rd floors from its existing 30,000 square feet of space at 488 Madison Ave. It will pay in the mid-$30s per square foot.
The subleasing deal had been in the works before the network moved to acquire its 1.6 million square feet of space in the complex for $440 million. In fact, those three floors never had been occupied by NBC, but were assigned to it after brokerage Kidder Peabody & Co.--like NBC, an affiliate of General Electric Co.--moved out.
Williams Real Estate Co. represented NBC. The Harlan Co. acted on behalf of Dechert Price & Rhoads, and Julien J. Studley Inc. negotiated on behalf of Lazard Freres.
