Dealing with emergencies outside of work will soon be seen as part of the job
FIRST AID training should be compulsory on pre-registration courses so that nurses are better equipped to deal with emergencies outside of their workplace.
That was the view of nearly 90 per cent of congress voting members. The vote precedes nursing's new code of conduct, which applies from next month and says nurses have a 'duty of care' to help in an emergency when they are off-duty.
