Students forced to choose between being a good nurse and a good parent
NURSING STUDENTS with children are on the brink of quitting their courses due to the prohibitive cost of childcare, a new report claims.
The report, UK Childcare Support for Student Parents, reveals that although the government is investing significant sums in childcare facilities in NHS hospitals and other healthcare settings, these are not available to students.
The Department of Health has promised to introduce childcare grants worth up to 135 a week for diploma students. But the Elizabeth Nuffield Educational Fund, which commissioned the report, points out...
