Better undergraduate support would be more effective says former student leader
A PROPOSAL that all newly qualified nurses be required to complete an extra year's 'foundation' training has been greeted with scepticism.
As Nursing Standard revealed last week, a group of senior nurses and academics has recommended the change in a report to be submitted to ministers later this month.
The Nursing Task Group wants to introduce a 'foundation year' for all students, requiring NHS trusts to give students a mentor while they are rotated around various wards.
