WXIN-TV Channel 59 could be leaving its competitors along "media row" near downtown in favor of an outlying location.
The local Fox affiliate, whose parent is awaiting regulatory approval to buy independent WTTV-TV Channel 4, has checked out a number of suburban sites for a shared headquarters with its future sister station.
Tops on the list is the former Spiece building at 7435 N. Keystone Ave., real estate sources said. But, they added, the stations may have to duke it out with retailing heavyweight Home Depot for the spot.
The 60,000-square-foot building was under contract to Home Depot last year, but talks fell through, and the property went back on the market. Now, the Atlanta-based home improvement chain has renewed its advances, according to the building's owner.
