ReadWriteThink website features lessons spotlighting ways to curtail bullying through literacy activities
As the new school year swings into full gear, many teachers will have already spotted some students who don't quite fit in, who seem a bit out of place, who take out their anger by bullying others. It's a problem at all grade levels.
The ReadWriteThink website at www.reaclwritethink.org offers some lesson plans that use children's literature to get students thinking about (and hopefully stopping) bullying behavior. All lesson plans on the website are research based and peer reviewed.
A bad case of bullying
"A Bad case of Bullying: Using Literature Response Groups With Students," aimed at grades 3-5, provides an opportunity for students to reflect upon and personally relate to a teacher read-aloud of a narrative.
