Saying it will bring a "new, local and vital voice to the province," Toronto broadcaster Chum has applied for local TV stations to serve Calgary, Edmonton and central Alberta.
The applications, which go before the CRTC on June 16, include plans for ChumTV Calgary, ChumTV Edmonton and a rebroadcast transmitter in Red Deer. Chum says it will spend $15 million in licence and development fees over the seven-year licence term.
If the CRTC approves Chum's application, it will add another facet to the broadcaster's battle with Calgary-based Craig Broadcast Systems- which operates A-Channel Calgary, A-Channel Edmonton and...
