Scholars and non-specialists will welcome The Abkhazians as an addition to the growing numbers of works on the peoples of the Caucasus region. The handbook comprises 16 chapters on a variety of topics such as geography, archaeology, history, linguistics, economics, literature, religion, demography, and ethnography. Books labeled "handbooks" are not always handy and those with multiple authors frequently lack an index, but readers needing a quick reference on a particular subject will be able to utilize this volume for its intended purpose.
